Thirty-seven icons from Partners in Crime and Fires of Pompeii, some animated, some victims of my odd sense of humor. :D ( Thirty-seven )
Tue, Mar. 25th, 2008, 03:00 pm Today sucks.

Hard. Been nauseous since 5am, but I can't bring up anything but a little bit of bile whenever I try to force the issue. Ginger ale helps, but only a little. Bleh. The hell did I eat last night to bring this on? Usually if it's food it comes up nicely and then I feel better. But not this time. Arrrgh. Shall be trying to distract myself from the omnipresent nausea by trying to make some more icons. Or something similar. *starts paging through the Folder of Pretty, hoping to be inspired past the nausea* This month really has gone to hell in a handbasket.
Wed, Mar. 19th, 2008, 01:27 am This is not what I had in mind when I said I had to stop talking about LJ

I just found out that Arthur C. Clarke died...well I was going to say today, but technically it was yesterday. Sometime on the 18th, a great man left us for his next great adventure. Woe, misery and heartbreak. Even finding out that in the days just prior he'd finished going over the final proof of his next novel before passing on doesn't help. Not one bit. The final line of The Nine Billion Names of God is apropos, I think, for how I feel right now. Overhead, without any fuss, the stars were going out.R.I.P Sir Arthur Clarke. I just don't get people. I mean, yes it will be interesting to see how many people actually participate in this posting-strike that's being organized on LJ...but unless every active member (and by active I mean people who actually post multiple times every day) puts up the cute little banner and refrains from posting, how the hell can you (or SUP) tell if it's actual participation in the posting-strike or just laziness? Not to mention the burning question of what real effect will this little act of rebellion have on the actual decision-making management of LJ? IMHO, next to none, except for pointing out which users are going to be trouble. Unless sudden paranoia makes for a new round of journal-deletions, there probably won't be much of an outcome here. For a real action that would hit SUP where it counts, every paid member who is disturbed by the changes would have to inform the management that they won't be continuing to use the paid service unless management resolves the disturbing trend they're on. And then carry through with the threat, because those thousands of paid accounts = major monies. No business really really wants to lose money, and that's what LJ is in the end. A business with seriously fucked-up customer relations at times, but still a business. People confuse me sometimes, really they do. And I really need to stop ranting about LJ.

And yes, I changed my layout. I realized I was having to lean too far forward to read what I'd written. It was a lovely layout, but this one is much easier on my eyes and back.
Mon, Mar. 17th, 2008, 10:40 pm I seem to be grousing about LJ a lot lately

The censorship/interests-filtering? Has been corrected, or so common gossip says. Talk about backpedaling! I'm not sure what it means though...I mean, someone actually listened to (or read all the) complaints...does this mean that they're well-meaning twits? Or is the de-censoring the work of one (or more) of the people who actually do the work of maintaining LJ, and not the work of SUP? It's rather confusing, but I really can't be arsed to investigate further right now. I've got too much else to do.

Sun, Mar. 16th, 2008, 08:33 pm More LJ shit

Censoring interests now? Almost makes me want to go read Orwell's 1984 again, just to be reminded what Big Brother is like. I am SO glad I have this journal, so I won't be frantically looking for somewhere to go when my favorite comms on LJ just can't hold me there anymore. Anyway, still working on an RP, updates to be following Soon. Hopefully this one won't die like the last two I was involved in. *fingers crossed* Edit - On further research, I'm not quite certain 'censoring' is exactly the right word. Perhaps I ought to have said 'unilaterally filtered' or something similar. Whatever, it still makes me a bit uncomfortable. Moreso than the 'bam, no more Basic accounts' decision. Not like that's actually a bother, except for the way it was announced. Really. I forget what the icon differential was, but I went Plus over there a looooong time ago. And sensibly told my layout options to put the ads on the side where they could be handily ignored. Of course this was in the days before I got Firefox's Adblock...now it's more like 'ads? What ads?' *grin* But still, LJ is taking quicksteps toward the edge of a precipice, and it's going to be morbidly interesting to watch it fall over. Or apart. Or both. Thingy.
Fri, Feb. 1st, 2008, 05:29 pm Second verse, same as the first!

No, not really. I was just listening to 'Henry the VIII'. And oddly enough, trying to pin down my absolute favorite Doctors. It's a weird list and jumps a little, in chronological order...like...so: The First Doctor The Third Doctor The Fifth Doctor The Seventh Doctor The Eighth Doctor The Tenth Doctor See? It's all rather jumpy. And while I don't dislike the non-listed Doctors, they just aren't my favorites. And it has nothing to do with sex appeal either, even though most of my list has it in spades. I'll have to try and analyze why I like these Doctors the most. Of course I'm also perverse enough to think that the Doctor and the Rani were married, so it'll probably take a while to pin it all down properly. Or should I say, sanely? ;) And yes, if you look at the two episodes she was in, that is SO a seperated/divorced couple vibe going on between her and Six in the Mark of the Rani. And in Time and the Rani? Still there, even if it's a bit skewed by the post-regenerative amnesia Seven went through. And the Rani pretending (quite well) to be his companion. Anyway, enough of the demented babble. Maybe I'll write some drabbles or something.
